Fall Soccer

Blythe began fall soccer again this week.  She isn't super happy about it.  Practically all of her former team members, many of whom she's been playing with for years, like Lilly Bradford, Addie Lepinski, Maggie Davidson, and others, have joined a new club team.  The club team is a bit more competitive, they practice twice a week plus have games twice a week, and is about three times as much as rec soccer.  Blythe has been happy to bounce around the field playing low stress soccer, and didn't want to change to the competition team.  I didn't really want her to either, both because of the added days commitment and the cost.  So we signed her up for rec soccer again, and she knows no one on her team.  Not a single girl.  They were having a big of a practice 30 minutes before the game, but she couldn't find the team so didn't get in on the action first thing, and hasn't felt really comfortable the whole time.  Her coach likes her because she plays pretty good defense, and she's happy to stand around in the backfield, waiting for the ball to come her way.  She has been playing well, and we've encouraged her to be friendly to her teammates.  I'm not sure, however, that she'll play again.
