Super Bowl Party

We don't watch TV on Sundays, so we never watch the Super Bowl.  We don't much care about the Super Bowl, so we don't feel like we are missing anything.  Apparently, the Oylers also don't watch TV on Sundays, but they are interested in the Super Bowl.  So this morning, beginning at 6:00am,  Aaron Oyler, the 2nd counselor in the Young Men's presidency, hosted a Super Bowl party.  They had lots of yummy food and opened their home to any deacon interested in watching.  They couldn't give away the score if they had already watched or looked to see who won, but they could come and cheer on their team and have a riotous time together, while still keeping the sabbath day holy.  Brandt was so excited and talked about it for days and days.  He was rooting for the Patriots who were playing the Rams, and he made sure we bought some snacks he could take.  He wanted two bags of chips and rootbeer, both of which sounded awful at 6:00am, but I'm not a twelve year old boy, and who am I to argue about party food.

As it was such an early start, I had Brandt lay out his clothes last night, his deodorant, and his toothbrush, so he could go to the party and immediately to school afterwards, smelling decent.  I woke him as I was on my way out the door, and hoped he could get himself across the street without waking Kent.  I'm not sure he used either the deodorant or the toothpaste, but he looked decent when I went over after spin to take a picture.  One and all seemed to be having a good time, and as there was late start at the middle school this morning, Brandt said they were able to see the whole game.  Fortunately for him, the Patriots won, though it was a low scoring, somewhat boring game.  In spite of that, Brandt had a great time.
