Deacons Basketball

Basketball season is in full swing, but church ball has just begun.  Today, Brandt had his first deacons/teachers game, and his very first basketball game ever.  Brandt isn't much into organized sports, though he did give football a go one season.  But he's never really played basketball.  They did have a unit in PE, so he has some idea of how it's done, but he hasn't every played a game.  Still, he was excited to participate, and we were excited to watch.

There are a lot of deacons and teachers in our ward, and the leaders were good about putting everyone in and giving them a chance to play.  Brandt went in enough for me to get some picture, but it was clear he didn't really know what he was doing.  Someone did pass him the ball and he did take a shot, and I think that was the only time he actually raised his arms above waist level.  He ran back and forth and got in the way, acting as defense, I guess.  Our ward got trounced by the other ward, but Brandt had a good time.  The last couple of minutes, they let the deacons play against the deacons, so all the little guys went in together.  They should have done that before half-time, too.

Here's to trying out new things!

Apparently, no one had their arms up.
