Field Trip Friday #53--Provo City Center Temple Open House

Today we were very blessed to be able to tour the new Provo City Center Temple, risen from the ashes of the burned former tabernacle.  As a bonus, we were able to go with practically all the DeMartinis, as well as cousin Laurel, Guy's dad Gary, Richard Ledford, and David Davies.  To say this is a beautiful building is an understatement.  It is incredible!  Attention has been given to every detail from floor to ceiling, and though there were masses of people going through, it was obvious this is a sacred place.  I loved it and so did the children.  Blythe liked the chandeliers, and Brandt said everything was his favorite.

I love to see the temple, and I love to see the temple with my family, especially the children.  I feel so blessed to know we are an eternal family because of temples.  I get to be with all these people, my people, and many others who are no longer with us, forever.  Nothing is better than that.  Nothing is more important.  I hope to be in the temple again with Brandt and Blythe as they are endowed and sealed to their eternal mates, and not just with Brandt and Blythe, but with nieces and nephews.  Those are happy days ahead.

These interior pictures are available online, but I am including them here so they will appear in my blog book and the children can remember how beautiful everything was and want to go back.

Example of hardware.
Every bit of hardware was intricate like this.

Windows

This is my favorite piece of stained glass.  This window of Christ came out of a Protestant church in New York that was demolished in the early 1900s.  The window was saved and put in storage.  Somehow the Church found out about it, bought it, and restored it using glass from the original Tabernacle.  The window, and the whole building really, is a wonderful testament to the ability of God to make whole that which has been damaged or is no longer perfect.  He can do that with us, too, restoring us, making us whole, perfecting us.  It's a wonderful thought.

Sealing Room.
I love how the mirrors are fitted into the beautiful arches.
