A Fire Engine, and Other Cool Stuff!

F week has begun, and we had a fantastic experience today to start it off.  Our friend Heidi called to tell us a life-flight helicopter had landed in the field across the street from our complex, so we went to check it out.  Not only was the helicopter there, but a fire engine and an ambulance, too.  Apparently there was a health fair going on at the school, and the helicopter crew flew in to talk about working as part of a life-flight team member.

As if that wasn't cool enough, there was also a fire engine and ambulance and their crews.  There was a large group of high school students standing around the helicopter listening and asking questions, but we looked in from the other side and talked about all the cool things inside and out.  Brandt then wanted to look at the fire engine.  As we walked away, Brandt said, "I know everything about helicopters."  So if you want to go for a ride . . . (just saying).

We walked over to the fire engine to check out all the controls and gadgets.  A very nice, incredibly thoughtful fireman walked over and began to show us cool stuff inside.  He pulled out his boots and fire retardant pants.  He opened side panels and showed us jaws of life, oxygen tanks, a stretcher, a huge saw, and other great tools, then draped both children in his jacket and helmet.  He took his time, wasn't rushed, and let us ogle.  I couldn't get over how nice he was.  We walked around the ambulance, and then we got to watch the helicopter take off.  What a fun, fun way to start F week.

Oh! And there was a bus.
Well, there was a bus driver with her grandchildren who asked if we wanted to see inside.
Did we? Did we?  Of course.
A helicopter, a fire engine, an ambulance, and a school bus.
Wonderful, wonderful.
