Over the last couple of years, the Church had made an effort to bring Christ back into Christmas in a more significant way. They have had a Light the World campaign focusing on service. They have placed Giving Machines, charitable vending machines, at public venues for the past two years, and did so again this year. We were delighted that machines were at the University Mall, and both Brandt and Blythe pressed us repeatedly to go make a donation.
Tonight we went. There were many options and we allowed each kid to make a choice of what to buy. We bought three chickens, a water purifier for a family, and lifesaving nutrition. We all felt great about our contribution and the blessing it is to give when you've received so much.
