Christmas Musical Soiree

Every year, Stephen and Jeri Covey, and Kalo Latu host a wonderful Christmas musical soiree.  They bring in BYU student performers, as well as people Kalo knows who do music professionally.  They do fun numbers and more spiritual numbers, and create a wonderful evening that culminates in a rousing group sing of Handle's Hallelujah Chorus followed by super yummy catered treats.  Kent and I were invited last year and thoroughly enjoyed the whole event.  We didn't receive an invitation from Jeri this year, and I was disappointed because we really liked the whole thing last year.

But then! Just a few days ago, an invitation arrived in the mail.  Jeri was a bit late in sending invites out, so it didn't get to us until shortly before the event.  We had such a good time last year, we cleared our calendar (ha ha) and attended tonight.

As last year, we enjoyed great performances.  There were three tenors who rocked the house, Kalo and her friend performed an incredible piano duet that was exciting musically and physically.  I'm not sure I've ever seen 20 fingers move so fast.  A young woman who is at Julliard studying violin did several solo numbers, and the ensemble pieces were terrific.  We all sang the Hallelujah Chorus and then we all ate shrimp and hot artichoke dip while visiting with each other.  It felt good to be on a date with Kent, and to enjoy both a cultural and neighborly evening out.
