This most excellent example of haberdashery silliness is a squid hat. Kent suggested we get it in order to embarrass our sweet and extremely sensitive daughter Blythe, and I fully supported his idea. Blythe thinks it is the worst and will NOT wear it. She won't even allow it to be in the same room with her, even if it's not on someone's head. I find it an absolute hoot and wish I had six or seven places a week where I could wear it. I need a job working with children where a squid hat would be appropriate. At least a job working with more tolerant children than my own, like Cora, who thinks the hat is terrific. There is no picture of me in the squid hat because Blythe yanked it off my head before we could take one.
