Grumpy the Grouchy Reindeer

Blythe had an assignment to make a reindeer out of a brown paper grocery bag.  She brought home the basics--grocery sack, dark brown paper, lighter brown paper--and instructions to make a reindeer.  It would be embellished any way she wanted, it just needed hand antlers.  Normally this is the sort of activity Blythe totally gets into, but not this time.  For whatever reason, she must have been unhappy about doing it, because she made a mad looking, scowling reindeer, complete with "Grrrrr" sound coming from his down-turned mouth, and no embellishment at all.  I asked why she had done her reindeer like that, saying, "Why did you make Grumpy the grouchy reindeer?"  That appealed and Grumpy became his name.  As I passed by these reindeer hanging up in the hall outside Blythe's classroom, I thought, 'One of these things is not like the other.  All of the other reindeer, look like they'd like to play reindeer games.  But not Grumpy.  He's just a grouch.'  And Blythe?  She's not like the others, either.
