Lunch Worker

This week, Brandt has been able to work in the lunchroom.  On Monday he served corn.  Only one student didn't want some.  On Tuesday he cleaned off trays.  He reported it was a messy job and he got stuff all over himself.  Today he served tropical fruit salad.  He and his fellow lunch workers got to go down early, but they ate lunch last, after everyone else was served, and as a result, got a short lunch recess.  He was pleased to be working, so I stopped in today to take a picture and eat lunch with him.  I sat with Blythe for a bit, and then when she left for recess and Brandt was finished serving, I sat and ate with him.  It wasn't a brilliant day to have school lunch--sloppy joes, carrots, chocolate milk, and the fruit salad--but it was fun to see Brandt at work doing his upper grade school thing.  And it's always a delight to have lunch with my boy.
