Light the World

In celebration of Christmas and in an effort to make the season more focused on Christ, the Church presented an initiative they encouraged members to participate in.  It was called Light the World.  It was 25 days of service, with each day from December 1 to December 25 being devoted to serving in the same ways Christ did while he was on the earth.  Each day had a different suggestion of something we could do to "light the world," and the children were excited to participate.  We have an advent calendar, and rather than having a candy in each pocket, I placed the day's suggestion and asked the children to do something kind.

Today's theme was "Jesus fed the hungry and so can you."  The suggested activity was to donate food to a local food bank.  Rock Canyon has been gathering food for the past week or so to give to the food bank, and today the children each took a bag of food to help the cause.  Look at those happy faces as they go off to school, good deed in hand.  I'm happy we've got such great kids who are willing to give to others in meaningful ways.
