Christmas Lights

This morning I got a call from Brenda (she and Michelle and George are still in town following Merlynn's funeral) saying they were thinking of going to Salt Lake this evening to see the lights at Temple Square.  Did we want to join them?  Considering our past several years' experiences, we didn't really feel like joining them, but I offered an alternative.  The lights at the Riverwoods, right here in Provo, are really quite lovely, there is no significant drive, and for a school night, much better for our kids.

After some discussion, it was agreed that Riverwoods should be our destination.  Kent called their courtesy service to see if it was possible to rent a wheelchair for George, but they don't have them.  However, they did offer a large golf cart complete with driver if we wanted to do that.  Did we ever!  Brandt was thrilled at the prospect.  We were able to all squish into the golf cart and enjoy the lights as the security guard drove us around.  He was very funny and told us all about the things we were seeing, providing a tour we didn't really need or want.  But he was friendly and kind and we certainly can't fault him for that.  We drove past the Santa hut and stopped so Blythe could sit on his lap and make a request.  Brandt wouldn't even get out of the cart.  We got a chocolate treat at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Company, and talked and laughed all bundled up against the cold.  It was a delightful Christmas holiday evening.

A less great picture of all of us.
You can't see George.
