Christmas Concert

Brandt and Blythe have been singing their Christmas concert songs under their breath or out loud for several weeks now.  Both of them love to sing; they sing well and loudly, know all the words, and like to perform.  Kent and I always enjoy the concerts too, and Grandma Sue joined us in the audience.  Each grade sang two numbers and I must say, this year's offerings were delightful.  The third grade was especially great.  They sang a beautiful first number called "Let it be Christmas Everywhere" with a melody and counter melody, nice and mellow.  Their second number was super fun, a play on The First Noel.  Called "Noel," I will include the lyrics below because they are so funny.  The third grade had kids dressed up like the characters mentioned, and held up signs and sang like crazy.  It was a fantastic performance and obvious that they all enjoyed it and knew how funny it was.  The first graders sang "32 Feet and 8 Little Tails of White" about Santa's reindeer (obviously) and "Here Comes Santa Claus."  Hoorah for the singers!

I know Brandt and Dante and Josh who are sitting in front of him.

You can hardly see Brandt in this picture,
but what little you can see, he's smiling and having a great time.
Several pairs of Jack and Jill on the front row.

To spell Santa's name is easy to do
You write S A N T and another A, too
But no L, no L, Santa's name has no L
And he won't be too pleased if you don't learn to spell

Jack and Jill went up a hill to fetch water from a well
But when neither one could find it, Jill started to yell
No well, no well, can't believe there's no well
We walked all the way here and I'm mad, can't you tell?

Captain Ahab took his crew, his harpoon and set sail
And he called out to ships, 'Have you seen the white whale?'
No whale, no whale, we ain't seen no whale
Saw a couple of dolphins, and a big yellow tail

If you've listened to this tune, then you probably can tell
That you've heard it before, it's a song you know well
Know well, know well, it's a song you know well
And we've ruined it completely, so we all say 'Oh well'

Oh well, oh well, We'll just say 'Fare thee well'
And Merry Christmas to you, and a Joyous Noel
