Early Morning and Late Evening

I love discovering/watching/listening to the children when they are playing/singing/being creative together.  It makes me so happy that they like each other (most of the time) and are delighted to be brother and sister and spend time together.  This morning I came home from spin to find them snuggled up on the couch next to each other reading.  Blythe was reading and Brandt was helping her with words she didn't know.  Truly, this is one of my favorite mom things.  Seeing them help each other is fantastic, and seeing them reading together is fantasticer.

This evening we went over to Grandma Sue's house for a birthday party FHE for Collin.  He turned five on Saturday, but we gathered today to celebrate.  Sharae has planned games, there was a pinata, and we had cake and ice cream.  The first game we played was a "knock the bottles over" game, but you had to knock them over with a tennis ball in the toes of panty hose while the hose were stuck on your head.  It was very silly.  We all gave it a try and discovered that some of us are better at it than others.  Brandt and I were very good.  We were both able to knock down our six bottles quickly.  We also pulled tissue out of the box as fast as we could, and as three groups were doing it at the same time, there was lots of tissue everywhere when we were done.  I gathered up a bunch and stuck it in the door of the car.  One doesn't like to be wasteful.  We got Collin a board game called Count Your Chickens.  We have it and he loves to play it every time he comes to our house.  He looked surprised when he opened it, but then very pleased when I told him it was his very own and he got to take it home.  We love being close to family and being able to celebrate special days with them.  There were several pictures of games, none of which were very good, but most of which are funny.
