Brandt has a secret clubhouse. He and Jarom and Sam Oyler hang out there quite often after school and on a Saturday. I would tell you where it is, but then Brandt would likely kill me for disclosing the secret location. That's a whole point of it being secret. He wanted to show me all the wonderful features of the clubhouse today, so I walked over with him (he blindfolded me so I wouldn't know how to get back there) and he gave me the grand tour. They have stockpiled food (chestnuts from a nearby tree) and weapons (sticks and stones), and prepared outer and inner defenses. There are few of the comforts of home, but who needs those when you're a boy playing in a secret clubhouse?
