Siblings

Several months ago we had the birth dad talk.  Brandt had expressed interest in knowing who his birth dad was, so we sat both kids down and told them all about their dad.  This also raised the issue of additional siblings, and on Facebook, we showed Brandt and Blythe all their respective brothers and sisters.  Over the following weeks, Brandt spoke often about wanting to meet those brothers and sisters he didn't know, and this afternoon, we met two of them.

Two of Brandt's siblings, Jace and Mylie, have been adopted by Dani and Bob Walker.  Today, I got together with Dani so the kids could meet and play a bit.  Dani has adopted two other boys, Isaiah and Aiden (biological cousins), and everyone had a good time together.  There was a bit of anxiety about meeting, on their part as well as on Brandt's, but generally kids like other kids, and after a few minutes, everyone warmed up.  They threw rocks in the river, dug in the dirt, and climbed around on the play equipment.  Dani and I chatted and got to know each other, and I'm certain we will get together again.  While there are other siblings Brandt doesn't know yet, I'm further certain that we will meet them soon too.

They dug that really big rock out of the ground with their hands and smaller rocks,

then threw it in the river where it made a tremendous ker-splash!
