The Best Neighbors

You might be thinking that you live in a great neighborhood with the best neighbors ever.  While your neighborhood may be nice and your neighbors might be very nice, you would be incorrect in thinking that they are the best.  Because, I am happy to report, WE have the best neighbors ever.  There is no contest here.  It's just a fact.  Ours are THE BEST.

The fence along our backyard has been in need of repainting for a long time.  Kent and I have talked about it, but felt we needed to be in agreement with the Lindbergs, our backyard neighbors, about what color to paint it.  It has been very red, and I wanted something a bit browner.  We knew we would have to power wash it, and we don't have a power washer, so we were sort of at a standstill before we ever really got started.

Last week, we watched as the Lindbergs and their daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren worked on painting their fence. They have more wood fence than we do, so it took them a couple of days.  Then, on Saturday evening, Dennis stopped by and said, "We have left-over stain.  Can we come and do your side of the fence on Monday?"  I hemmed and hawed, saying we would get to it, and then Kent called out from the family room, "Katherine! Just say yes!"  So I said yes, thank you, and told them we would be ready on Monday morning for them to come.

By about 8:00 this morning, Dennis arrived and began bringing gear into the backyard.  Sam, Veronica, and Annika followed, and we started working.  We trimmed back plants, we power washed, and Sam began spraying stain.  For how large the fence is, it all went remarkably quickly.  There was just enough stain to finish the length of the fence, and we were totally finished by 10am.  The Davis' worked happily, serving us so kindly and willingly.  We are extraordinarily grateful for their service rendered.
