Independence Day

It was a fabulous Fourth of July, as it is every year.  Three cheers for freedom, family, and fireworks!  We started the day watching the parade with cousins and friends, under a shady tree with ready snowcones.  Pretty fabulous way to get things going.  I had made ice cream during the night, so after the parade, we came home and I took a short nap.  So nice after being up into the wee hours of the morning.  We met up with cousins again at Grandma Sue's house, where we swam and ate and talked and laughed and enjoyed the summer.  We got to consume the ice cream I froze during the middle of the night.  Delicious! We went home shortly before the Stadium of Fire started and eventually made our way down the street to the park so we could watch the fireworks.  They were so late getting going, it was hard to last.  Blythe and Kent went home, leaving me and Brandt to tough it out.  It was tough.  Independence Day starts so early and ends so late, it is exhausting.  But, as always, we were happy to celebrate our freedoms, eat yummy food, and swim.

Annie was in town from Cedar City and came to watch the parade with us.

Annie came and ate with us in the afternoon.
We sat around and played games after dinner.
We mostly played Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza.
It got pretty intense.

Headed home.

We got home in time to see the skydivers leap from a helicopter and float into the stadium.  People are crazy to throw themselves out of a perfectly functioning aircraft.  They shot down so fast, then unfurled a flag and had fire shooting from their boots.  It was fun to watch them descend.

The sunset was top notch!

Random selfies taken by Brandt as we waited for skydivers.

The two of us, waiting for fireworks to start.
Do we look exhausted?
We were!
