Dr. Seuss Day

Today is Dr. Seuss' birthday.  Well, actually, it's tomorrow, but today, for school purposes, it's Read Across America Day, the annual celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday, and a day to get everyone to read together.  Brick's kindergarten class was having a party, and an adult could come.  Mikayla was headed to Salt Lake with all her people, but Brick wanted to go to school and I needed to go to Salt Lake to pick up a couple of things, so I said I would go to school with him, then take him up to Salt Lake when we were done.

The party was darling.  We got to read Dr. Seuss books together, there were a couple of worksheets with rhyming words, and then there were snacks.  There was Hop on Pop-corn, fish crackers for One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, and green egg cookies.  The kids also got a pencil, an eraser, and a bookmark.  We also took funny pictures at a photo booth.  It was great fun for me to be back in kindergarten, and for Brick to have a chance to show off his reading and rhyming skills.  Mikayla and I had made Dr. Seuss popcorn and snack bags for all the kids, not realizing there would be treats.  I don't think there were treats when my kids were in kindergarten, and we didn't ask Mrs. Stewart if it would be okay to bring them.  So as all the children left, Brick handed out a take home back of additional goodies.

Thing 1 was having more fun than this picture might indicate.
