Country Fair

For the past several weeks, in a unit at school, Brandt has been working on a country project.  He was able to pick several countries he wanted to do research about, and got to learn about Fiji.  At school, he's learned about the culture, politics, food, and geography of Fiji, about the people and things there are to do there.  He's written a report all about what he's learned, and I helped him put together a post with color pictures of interesting things that related to his research.

Today was the Country Fair.  Each student was able to show off their country's flag, their report about the country, the poster if they made one, and items from their country.  Here is where we encountered a bit of a snag.  I had asked Brandt if he needed stuff from Fiji to display, and he assured me he didn't.  Well, he sort of did. His desk looked pretty empty.  He found a scarf that looked sort of like batik in the "Cool Junk" box, and had that sitting on his desk.  That was it.  He didn't seem too concerned about it, so I supposed I needn't be concerned either.

What we determined from his research is that we should all go to Fiji.  Good food, beautiful beaches, nice people.  Maybe we'll look into going for summer vacation.

These two pictures appeared on the school's Instagram account.
I have copied them.

Blythe helped Brandt out with his poster by drawing the palm trees and the people.
They are hula dancing, which I don't think anyone in Fiji actually does.
Perhaps a bit more research was in order.
