Eight Is Great!

Today is Blythe's eighth birthday.  I must say, as each birthday rolls around, I am astounded that another year has passed and that our children just keep growing up.  Naturally, I don't want it any other way, I'm just amazed and how big they are getting.  Because today is Sunday, and fast Sunday to boot, it was a bit quieter than it might have otherwise been.  We did make her pancakes for breakfast and she got to open her presents right away.  Patience is a virtue deemed somewhat overrated at our house.  Blythe has been asking for large Lego sets, so she got the Lego shopping mall as well as a smaller set from Brandt.  I also got her some new flip flops, a couple of shirts, and a fancy coloring book and some fine markers.  I hope she was satisfied.  We went to church and Blythe was sung to in Primary.  After church, I made pizza per her request.  Had to make it because we can't exactly order out on Sunday.  Richard Ledford came over and we all got to assemble our own pies.  After dinner we went down to North Park to have cake, open presents, and attend the concert in the park.  Grandma Sue, cousins, aunts and uncles, as well as Grandma Dawn and Papa Scott and company came to join us.  She was delighted to be the center of attention and to have everyone there for her.  We ate yellow cake with chocolate frosting and blue pearl decoration, and then enjoyed the concert.  It was a lovely day for our lovely girl.

Blythe has really grown over the last year, and not just physically, although that has happened, too.  She is tall and lovely, has decided to grow out her hair, and continues to put together marvelously unique outfits.  While still a bit stubborn, she has been more obedient and made a greater effort to be helpful.  She has decided to be baptized which makes me and Kent very happy.  She is reading very well, continues to be very social, and loves to create towns/houses/villages of little creatures/people/fairies.  She is a funny teaser, but also an incredibly helpful and caring big sister/cousin.  She's so good with Cora when she's here and is wanting to learn to do more household stuff.  She is energetic, likes to rider her bike, and is friendly with peers and older people alike.  She says great prayers and is very thoughtful about serious matters, more than most children her age.  We are certainly delighted that Blythe is our daughter and love her lots and lots.
