Kent has been looking for a new car for us. Since Brandt's car accident in August, it was obvious we were going to need another car that can go farther than Timpview. Brandt has been able to drive the Lexus to school and back, but any farther, and we've had him take the Mini, leaving me with the Lexus to go to work and back (only slightly farther than Timpview, thankfully). Kent has also been concerned that the transmission in the Mini was going to give out, which it did a couple of weeks ago. There's a whole post about that.
So, we got a new car the day the Mini died. We purchased a Toyota Venza which is roomy and comfortable, only has about 90,000 miles, and we hope, because it's a Toyota, will last a long time. I have named it Vivia.
But we also needed another car for Brandt as the Lexus was done. I had requested a Toyota Highlander when we were looking for something new. I had heard good things about them, and I hoped for an optional third-row seat so I could haul little people around when necessary. It would also be big enough for Brandt to haul around sound equipment when he had DJing gigs. Kent found one with only minor problems he could fix, reasonably priced at $3,500, and not so nice that if Brandt is in another accident, we won't be crushed (emotionally or financially) if it's a complete loss. We named it Seamus, because of Scottish Highlanders. It does have an optional third row seat which would have been perfect for our outing with the Johnsens on Saturday and will be terrific going forward.
We are now the proud owners of three Toyotas.
