A Morning at the Golf Course

This morning was the Provo City School District Foundation Golf Tournament, hosted to raise money for Camp Big Springs scholarships.  As a member of the foundation board, I agreed to spend the morning driving around a golf cart and distributing cold drinks and tasty treats to all the golfers who were participating.  I invited Brandt and Blythe to come with me, with the promise that they could drive the golf cart, but even with that inducement, Blythe said no.  Brandt was thrilled with the chance to spend the morning driving and eating cookies, and readily agreed to come with me.

That's pretty much what we did all morning.  We, mainly Brandt, drove the golf cart around the course, and ate cookies meant for golfers.  It was a beautiful day, we talked as we drove, Brandt felt all grown up, and I enjoyed being with my boy.  He managed to stay out of the sand traps and water, and we didn't hit any geese, so all in all, it was a success.  Kent left for the day shortly before noon, and so Brandt and I ran home to get Blythe, as the promise of driving the golf cart appealed more than being at home alone.  She was not as good a driver as Brandt, but he had more practice, and she was giddy with the control that came from being behind the wheel of that fast moving cart.  Fifteen miles per hour is pretty speedy!  It was a fun way to spend a morning.

After we'd been driving around for some time and had seen all the golfer more than once,
one of them asked Brandt if he wanted to take a swing.
He initially said no, then reconsidered and stepped up to the tee.
His hit wasn't too shabby for a first timer.

See what I mean about giddy?
She could hardly control herself she was having so much fun.

After the tournament, all the golfers got lunch and the chance to win swag.  Brandt and Blythe helped choose raffle entries and give out the gifts to the winners.  Kallee Duncan, Blythe's teacher, and her husband Chad, were there, as Chad is the director of Big Springs.  We had lunch with them, and Blythe was thrilled to see Kallee outside of school and during the summer!

Brandt is playing Vanna White.
