Activities that start with A

We had two A week field trips yesterday.  One was successful; one was not.  In the morning, we went to the Museum of Art at BYU.  The exhibits at the museum were not very engaging (small pictures hung too high for the children to see without being held up) until we got outside and found large and dangerous looking metal constructs.  All in all, the "art museum" portion of A week wasn't fantastic.
Touching the sculpture they shouldn't be touching.
Those are sprinkler heads.
Interesting metal pieces of art behind interesting children.

In the afternoon we took a second A field trip to the airport.  Provo has a small airport and I had intended on just watching a few planes come in or take off and calling it good.  But hey, hey!  We got more than we had expected.  We were sitting near a small plane when the pilot came out and appeared to be getting ready to take off.  I said, "It looks like this one will be taking off soon," and the pilot said, "Do you want to come see inside?"

Did we want to come see inside?  Yeah!  Not only did we get to see inside, the children go to get inside.  They sat in the pilot's and co-pilot's seats, they were allowed to put on headsets, and they moved the throttle.  The pilot explained dials and parts of the plane and even took our picture.  The afternoon field trip was a definite success.

Our amateur aviators.  How's that for A words?
