Reading

Brandt got a really good book for Christmas.  It's called This is Our Story.  It's about five young men, teens, who go hunting, but one of them is shot on their trip.  The DA in the story is trying to figure out which of the four boys shot the other.  Brandt has not been able to put it down.  Two nights in a row he was up until nearly 11:00pm reading, pretending to go to sleep after we'd read and tucked him in, but then turning on the light and reading once we went downstairs.  We can't really be upset with him because he's reading, and reading is a wonderful thing.  Wonderful!  And it's a tremendous feeling to be in the middle of a book you can't put down.  So he read and read and finished it in three days.  310 pages in three days.  We've got a reader!  And a sensitive one.  There is some swearing in the book, and Brandt has pointed it out to us repeatedly.  "There are swears in this book, Mom," he's said.  "They say the D word and the H word and the S word and even once said the F word."  He's young and impressionable.  And a reader!
