New Year's Day

Yesterday was Mikayla's birthday.  She had dinner at Mom's house and we went over after dinner for pie and ice cream and to play games.  I think she had a nice birthday.  Today, however, she and Mom and I went to the movie as part of the birthday celebrating.  We went to see The Greatest Showman which was super fun.  It's a musical and the music was fantastic.  The story was fairly predictable, but we all really liked it.  We went to lunch afterwards, but we all had a light lunch.  Mikayla and I had both texted Christopher and he said, "Don't eat a lot for lunch.  There's going to be tons of food tonight."  We held off anymore celebrating until the evening.

Tonight we all went over to Christopher and Tysen's for a surf-n-turf, over the top meal to bring in the new year.  Talk about a feast!  Christopher goes all out on this dinner every year, and while we don't usually attend, we did tonight.  On the menu was: two kinds of steak, pork loin bacon wrapped buffalo kebabs, garlic sirloin kebabs, coconut shrimp, king crab, shrimp in butter, teriyaki chicken, and lobster tail.  Sides included fries, onion rings, garlic bread, green salad, and fruit.  Some friends brought cheese and crackers, too.  Raspberry lemonade rounded out the meal.  Did I already say it was a feast?  It was!  It was all delicious, it was fun to be together, and while we didn't contribute anything food wise, I helped do all the dishes/clean up when we were done, and surely that counts for something.

Here's to a new year and the continued blessing of abundance.
