Last year, Tibble Fork was closed for repair of the dam and improvements in the beach area. Although we had a marvelous time canoeing at Payson Lake last year, we wanted to see the changes having heard there was now a sandy beach. Upon arrival, we were amazed at the changes and equally amazed at the number of people now using the reservoir. In the past, there have rarely been more than 20 other people in the area when we've gone, but today, it was a madhouse. The new beach was so covered with people it was hard to find a place to set up our stuff. While the beach is nice, it's all very steep going down into the water, which makes it hard to sit in a chair or put up a shade canopy, or even to walk around comfortably. But the sand was super fun to play in; the little kids especially liked it.
As always, the canoes and kayaks were a hit. Someone was always out on a kayak paddling around, even Brick and Collin. The lake has been enlarged so there is more water covered area, and we explored the new area. With Tysen and Rowen in a canoe, we saw a snake swimming through the water. Rowen wanted to see a fish and kept peering over the edge, but the only one we saw was dead, floating belly up. It was a wonderful day of water fun, digging in the sand, eating too much junk food, and getting too much sun. An A+ summer day!
Canoe companions.
View of the beach from the canoe.
Brandt was going to haul Blythe around.
It didn't work very well.
I didn't get any close up pictures of Blythe in a water craft.
She would be far out when I looked for her,
and then she would appear by my side out of the boat.
Pictures of the beach.
I tell you, previous years it's been us and some fishermen.
Hoo boy!
Not today!
The water was really cold!
