Pioneer Day Festivities

This morning was our ward's annual Primary Pioneer Day Parade and Pancake Breakfast, a tradition started when I was the Primary President lo these many years ago.  Kent headed over to Sertoma Park early to help with breakfast set up and preparation, the children went down the street to meet the Primary to begin parading, and I pulled out suckers from storage to hand out to the kids as they paraded by.  Eventually they came straggling up the road, variously becostumed, happy to take a sucker for the road.  I followed along afterwards and joined many ward members in the park for pancakes, bacon, and fruit.  It was a beautiful morning, lovely to visit with neighbors, and a fun way to start the day we remember our pioneer ancestors who have gone before and who had a much more difficult trek.

Blythe is smack dab in the center in the flowery apron.
She's one of three children looking at the camera.

Brother Thomsen had his little car out driving around the cul-de-sac,
and Blythe waited patiently for a turn to ride.

After parading and pancaking, we returned home and launched into evening BBQ preparations.  The children went off to a camp at the rec center, Kent and I moved tables and chairs, and we readied ourselves for a Barrus Family gathering.  It was a nice Pioneer Day.
