Funny Children

Sitting at dinner this evening, Brandt said, "Want to play a game?"  I'm always keen to play a game, so I said, "Yes!"  Blythe said yes, and because the three of us were willing, Kent said he'd play, too.

Then Brandt said, "Let's go outside and try to jump over the rope as it swings around."  Kent had done that with the scrub sprouts yesterday.  I said, "I don't want to up over the rope, but I'd love to play Rummikub."

Without missing a beat, Blythe said, "I'm sorry.  That's not on offer."  Cracked both me and Kent up because that is exactly what I say to the children, regularly, when they want something I don't really want them to have.  What a smart aleck that Blythe is!
