A family who lives in our ward, the Drakes, hosted the second annual Block Party this evening. The Drakes live at the end of a long cul-de-sac, and with a couple of their neighbors, put together a party for the families who live up the street. It comprises about a third of the ward or more, and lots of people come to barbecue, visit, and, if you are under twelve, run around eating lots of junk and drinking lots of soda. It is marvelous good fun. This evening was beautiful, the company was great, and it was such a pleasant way to spend time with our neighbors. We laughed and got caught up on all sorts of things people are doing, and Kent and I hardly saw the kids except as they ran by with a pack of other small-ish people. A young guy in the ward made pizza out of the back of a converted Volkswagon van, and when it got dark, the kids all settled down to watch
Wreck It Ralph projected on the side of the Elder's house. I hope we do this every year until we die.
All the neighborhood kids are standing at the bottom of a hill
trying to catch water balloons being thrown down by Mike Drake and Abe Ogles.
Brandt has his light saber and is trying to strike them out of the air before they hit the ground.
Abe and Mike
Brandt is holding a balloon.
I'm not sure what he did with it.
A picture of Kent and me at our leisure.
