Tonight was our annual pool movie night. It’s also my dad’s birthday. So in honor of Dad, we decided to watch My Blue Heaven, Dad’s favorite movie, a comedy starring Steve Martin as a Mafioso who enters the witness protection program and moved from New York City to suburban California. The adjustment is rough. It is a movie we quote all the time and is remarkably funny. There is a scene where Steve Martin’s character “Vinny” teaches his FBI handler “Barney”, played by Rick Moranis, how to merengue. I was laughing so hard, Mikayla feared I would drown. It really is such a funny movie. We also had chocolate chip cookies without the chocolate chips and with walnuts added, because those were Dad’s favorites. It was wonderful and sad to be together in the pool Dad had built for all of us, missing him today. Happy birthday to you, Dad!
