With the Boys Away, the Girls Will Play

Kent and Brandt had an 11-year old scout overnighter this evening, and knowing they would be away, I asked Blythe what she wanted to do.  I gave her a couple of options, and she decided that she wanted to have movie night.  There isn't anything I want to take her to in the theaters, but she thought a night in, watching a movie and eating Chinese food in front of the TV would be just the ticket.  We invited Mikayla, Grandma Sue, Tysen, and Sharae to come, along with Ava, Lyla, and Makenna, but in the end, none of them could come.  Mikayla, Grandma Sue, and Sharae are all getting ready for a yard sale tomorrow, and Christopher was away with the young men in his ward and Tysen didn't have anyone to leave the boys with.  So last minute, very spontaneously, we invited some of Blythe's friends and their moms to join us.  As it was last minute, we didn't really have any takers except Sarah Oyler who very happily joined us.  We ordered Chinese--orange chicken, beef and broccoli, noodles, pot stickers, and walnut shrimp--and watched Beauty and the Beast which Blythe and I hadn't seen yet.  About half-way through, Briahna, Hadley, and Ada Bushman arrived, cookies in hand, to finish the movie with us.  It was fun to have them be with us, too.  After the movie, the girls played in the cool evening while Briahna and I talked.  All in all, it was very pleasant and a fun time without the boys.  We hope they had a good time camping.

Off to camp.

Yummy!
