Guy called me this evening and said, "I need to take Kal to the emergency room. Can you have the girls?" Kal had fileted open his finger when he tripped over the dog who lives across the street and fell against some fencing. You can see pictures here if you are interested. They are gross.
Naturally, I was happy to help and ran over to get them. They came over to my house to hang out and we played for a while. There was wild rambunctiousness, but that's the way I like it!
See?
That's dogpile on Izzy.
Kal's emergency room visit took a long time because he needed to be sedated in order to be stitched up, and tomorrow is the Rock Canyon Extravaganza. Brick needed to decorate a cake for the cake walk and silent auction, and Mikayla had planned to help him with that after soccer practice. As Mikayla was at the hospital, she asked if I could help Brick decorate his cake. Once again, I was totally up to the task.
And speaking of being up to the task, Brick was too! I had him practice piping frosting out of the bag onto some wax paper, but after just a bit, he launched into cake decorating. He did a really good job and gave himself positive affirmations as he went along. He said, "This looks awesome!" "It's coming together," "That was a beautiful flower," "Let's go!" "At least it looks like a leaf," "Eeeeee! That looks so good!" "I think I have done an exceptional job," "Excess, you are my servant now," (I'm not sure what that means), and "Actually, that's really not bad." I agree with all of these statements. He wanted to put some gold sprinkles on after he'd finished with the frosting, but I convinced him they would not add, and he took my advice. In the end, he had a terrific looking cake.
And in the end, Kal came home with eleven stitches and a huge bandage on his finger. We hope he heals up quickly.
