We were delighted to attend the wedding of cousin Jace Brinkerhoff and his bride Salem Peckinpaugh. Jace and Salem have been an item since high school, and in spite of distance and time, have remained quite enamored of each other. They married in the Provo City Center Temple. It was wonderful to be there with family and to celebrate Jace and Salem. We had a lovely dinner following the wedding, and got to visit with family we don't see very often. It was so nice to catch up! It is wonderful to have a new family unit being formed in our larger family and to know that families are eternal. We look forward to seeing more of Jace and Salem as Salem is a student at BYU and they will be living in Orem.

Swimming Swimming Swimming
*singing to the tune of "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess "Summertime and the living is easy. Kids are jumping and the water feels fine." *singing done
I love to swim and I wish I could do it more. When I can, I enjoy every moment I get to spend swimming, swimming, swimming, especially when I'm swimming, swimming, swimming with people that I love.

Boomerfest
Brandt was up in Wallsburg doing production work for a music festival called Boomerfest. Described as a festival "where the groovy vibes meet the picturesque mountains of Wallsburg, Utah . . . open spaces, melodies echoing through the pines, and a crowd swaying to tunes that once ruled the airwaves." Sounds charming. Brandt has been up the canyon most of the week doing setup and then helping run sound. He took a few pictures which he shared with us.

Ward Service Project
We had a ward service project this evening at Rock Canyon Park just up this hill. We were helping spread mulch under trees in large beds. There was a serious amount of mulch to spread, but there were also many ward members who showed up including lots of vigorous youth, and the work went quickly and pleasantly. It was fun to chat with neighbors while doing a good deed. And the beds all looked terrific when we were through.

Second Day of School
School started yesterday and today I resumed my morning visits to Mikayla's to help her get the children ready for school and out the door. I'm usually only there about 30 minutes, which isn't nearly enough time for anybody's liking. I'm so happy to go over to help, but it makes me sad too that I can't spend more time. Today, we paused, all of us together on the stairs and took a picture. I love all these people so much.

First Day of School
Summer came to an end as school began today. The 2023-24 school year is underway. I can hardly believe it, but Brandt is a senior and Isabella is a sophomore. Although both of them claim that they don't like school, I know they do. They talk like they don't, but they enjoy being with friends, being involved with school productions, and learning new things. Brandt is excited because he doesn't have a first period class so he can sleep in, and he's going to be my friend Cinda's class aid. Isabella has sign language and interior design which she is excited about, and she is not thrilled at all about having to take math. Oh well.
Here's to a terrific school year!

Beautiful Sky
It was Inevitable
I got a call today from Brandt, a call I have been anticipating since he got his driver's license a little over a year ago. He called to tell me he had been in a car accident. The most critical questions were, "Are you hurt? Was anybody in the car hurt? Was anybody in the other car hurt?" The answer to all of those things was no, so I didn't worry about anything else. He rear-ended another car., looking at a hot car parked across the road. I can't be mad at him, because I once rare ended a car looking at a cute boy.
Here is Brandt's version of the indicent.
So, I was dropping off friends because we went swimming at my friend's grandma's house which was fun. I was in Orem, and it is around 5:00 so it was busy on the road. I thought to myself, 'Why not go through the back roads?' So, I go, and I see a Hell Cat parked at the side of the road. I look at it and say, "That's a car I want." Then I turned back and sneezed and when I recovered from my sneeze, I saw brake lights. Then I hit the back of a 2021 F150 and totaled my car. The truck was fine, but the guy was all mad about it.
The car sat for a couple of days before Kent and I went to pick it up. He smashed the hood down a bit so that it wasn't sticking up and you could see over it, and we hoped it would make it home. Turns out, it drove for a couple more months. Brandt only drove it to Timpview and back for school, but it was enough to give us time to find another car to purchase.
I'm glad that the call I knew was inevitable was not of dire circumstance.

Strangeness
