Hosts with the Mosts

Brent and Brenda are in town.  We are always delighted to see them.  Tonight they stopped by for a visit and we sat out on the back patio in our beautiful backyard and chatted.  Brandt very politely asked if anyone would like anything to drink, and then brought us all tall, iced, refreshing glasses of water.  The adults continued to talk in the back, but suddenly Brandt and Blythe appeared with an attractively arrange plate of "salad;" chopped up carrots, Craisins, and cashews.  This with absolutely no adult prompting, input, or supervision.  They made their selections and prepared everything.  We were all very impressed, and without much fuss, ate the whole thing, munching as we talked.

Their offerings did not stop there, however.  Oh no!  They felt we all needed dessert, so they brought out a second plate with crackers, apples, and fresh-from-the-garden tomatoes.  Not entirely dessert-ish, but delish nevertheless.  They even brought out a third plate, but things began to deteriorate as they apparently began to run out of ideas.  Two pictures was enough.  I was very pleased that the children 1. thought of others, 2. made healthy food choices, 3. wanted to play host/hostess, and 4. didn't try to be completely silly to "entertain" us.  We were all genuinely, pleasantly surprised.
