Tree Burning

Tree burning excitement is running high at our house.  Since Thursday, after Wednesday night's tree burning, the kids have been saying, "Can we burn a tree tonight?"  I have put them off because the Tanners have not been home from Silverton.  When I posted a picture of our tree burning on Instragram, Heidi commented and said, "You didn't wait for us?!" so I've held off.  But, they got home today, so I told the kids we could burn one.  We called the Tanners, and when the time came, we went and got the Oylers and Atkinsons to come watch too.  It was the Atkinson's tree we were burning, so that seemed appropriate.

We gathered around, and with Kent watching as Brandt lit, we set the tree alight.  As always, it was very exciting and tremendously satisfying.  Hot too.  Flames shot high, smoke billowed, glowing ash floated down around us.  Blythe sang, "Dancing around the Christmas tree," maniacally as all the little people rushing madly around the burning pyre.  Marvelous.
