Snow Cones

Surf-N-Slurp, our local snow cone shack, opened on Saturday.  We were so excited!  Throughout the long but not especially cold winter, the children have frequently asked if we could go and get a snow cone, but sadly, there has been no place to go.  We have all been longing for the return of the Surf-N-Slurp, and on Thursday last week, when we drove past Days Market, we saw the shack in place again (it is transportable and goes away at the end of September).  We were hopeful it was open that day, but alas, no luck.  We didn't have to wait too long, however, because Saturday was the day.

When we drove up to see if they were, indeed, open, Brandt saw the worker at the window and cried out, "They're open! They're open! I want rootbeer!"  It has been a long wait, but we can finally indulge again.  And we have.  Twice.

The first snow cones of the season.

Joining us for sweet coolness were Crew and Griffin.  I am eating my favorite flavor, pomegranate/pink lemon sour mixed.  Kent got a mango/orange combo and both of our children had flavor envy.  When we went back today on our second visit, they both got "what Dad got last time."  I am going to keep track of how much money I spend on snow cones this year to see if we can justify purchasing our own snow cone maker, one of the really good ones that shaves the ice fine.  If I spend enough, then I might be able to convince Kent we would actually save money by owning our own.
