We're going to the zoo

Actually, we went to the zoo.  Kent took a day off a couple of weeks ago, and we went.  It was very busy--lots of school groups going before summer vacation--but the children had a great time.  It was fun to be all together.  I am usually the one taking the children on outings, but to be all together was a delight.  Our uncaged animals enjoyed the caged ones.
The mom and baby elephant.
Is there anything cuter than a baby mammal?

Kent and the kids are watching penguins.
I find the children much more entertaining.

Brandt and a giraffe.

We rode the zoo carousel.
Neither Brandt nor Blythe would sit on an animal that actually moved.

Brandt will climb on a ginormous fake spider,
but not a horse that moved slowly up and down on the carousel.
Strange.

Peering through a large fake tortoise shell.
See what I mean about baby mammals?
Too cute!

This tiger was very accommodating while we watched.
It got in the water and swam around.
