A Kid in a Candy Shop

We are on vacation.  For the three people who actually read my blog, don't tell anyone.  Kent thinks it's dangerous to tell anyone online we are away from home, but as I'm fairly sure no one is actually reading this blog, I'm not all that concerned.  But if you do happen to read this, be warned, we have an extremely large and vicious dog prowling through the house waiting to pounce on and eat anyone who happens to stop by and look delicious.

Having gotten that all out of the way, let me say again that we are on vacation.  We have come to Indiana to be with Kent's parents while his sister is at girl's camp.  We will be here from Monday to Friday, then spend a couple of days in Chicago with Kent's brother and sister-in-law James and Alisa.  On the way from Chicago to Lafayette today, we stopped at a well known candy shop called Albanese.  It was amazing!  The kids eyes got huge as we walked in and gave them nearly free rein to choose whatever they wanted to buy.  There were so many choices I had a hard time deciding what I wanted.  They had a large chocolate chimney too, pumping chocolate just like in Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.  We came away with a nice stash we'll likely eat the rest of the week.

Bins and bins and bins full of candy.

Gumball filled bats.
Fun to chew and play with too.

These giant boxes of Mike and Ikes and Hot Tamales are enormous.
See the smaller box?  That's one of the big boxes you can buy at the movie.

Here's what we bought:
Brandt and Blythe both got gumballs (big and small) and Slush Puppie powdered candy.
Kent got a bag of mixed oldish candies, like Mary Janes, rootbeer barrels, chewy banana candies, and atomic fireballs, and chocolate covered raisins and peanuts.
I got a small bag of dark chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered peanut butter pretzels,
and chocolate covered caramel popcorn.
Can you say "Sugar high!"?
I sure can.

Chocolate chimney.
We all wanted to put our fingers in it.
