A Canoeing Adventure

Last week Grandma Sue took a day off work and with cousins and friends, we went canoeing.  For a mere $25, you can rent a canoe at BYU, and since we were going to be 14 people, we rented two.  We headed up American Fork Canyon to Tibble Fork Reservoir to do our boating.  It was a beautiful day, the reservoir is in a lovely setting, and we had fun, fun, fun.  I was worried that the children might not like being on the water in the boat, but they both were fine.  Brandt liked to sit up front and be the captain, and Blythe wanted to sit on a seat all by herself and row.  We went with Darren, Heidi, Simon, and Jack Tanner, Uncle Eugene, Aunt Sharae, Blake, Makenna, and Luke, and Grandma Sue and Auntie Lala.

Oh, captain, my captain                             Simon and Jack Tanner, and Cousin Blake
I don't think these three ever got out of the canoe.

                                                                                                  Blythe has pretty good form.

Blake, Simon, Jack, Makenna, and Heidi.
The boys were leaping out of the canoe into the water.
Blythe in her life jacket                Brandt with what he is convinced is a dinosaur bone
Tromping through the mud                                           A naked nudie on Heidi's lap.
Eugene, Luke, Makenna, and Sharae, paddling
A family afloat, less Blake who was with Jack and Simon
Grandma Sue and Auntie Lala frolicking in the water.
They had wadded into the water, gotten stuck in inches of mud along the bottom,
and then Mikayla did a take-down.
They were both really, really cold.

Blythe, communing with nature                 The mud hole into which the boys peed.

Sue and Blythe paddling in the back.
Katherine and Brandt up front, with Brandt guiding us in to the shore.
The river that fed the reservoir.
We walked up the water a bit.
All so beautiful.
Brandt and I taking a break from our little "hike" up the river.
