Memorial Day Cemetery-ing

It's Memorial Day weekend, and we've been memorializing.  I love taking the time to go visit the graves of our ancestors, and making that tradition part of our family activity.  We didn't make it to Eureka this weekend, but Brandt asked when we were going.  I love that!  He knows this holiday is about those who've come before, and that we remember.  I'm grateful for those who have served and do serve in the armed forces and who make tremendous sacrifice to maintain our freedoms.

Saturday we decided to drive to Tooele.  We almost never go there because it is a long drive, but we felt it would be a good thing as we hadn't been there in several years.  We saw Grandpa and Grandpa Droubay, as well as three generations further back.  We ran into a distant cousin that even Kent didn't know, but made a stop to see two cousins he knows well.  We visited with Jennifer Clark and with LeAnn and Ivan Bedell who live in the big house in Erda.  And while it was a long drive, it was wonderful to talk about those good people who settled in the valley, and their faith and righteous example.  On the way back through Salt Lake, we stopped in the Murray City Cemetery, though not at Wasatch Lawn (the kids were about done with being in the car).

Today we met up with Eugene and Shara and theirs, Mikayla and Guy and their, and Grandma Sue at Grandpa De's grave.  It's so peaceful and lovely there.  We sat on the grass and talked and watched the kids run around and missed Dad.  We walked over to John's grave as well as to Grandma Merlynn's.  We miss them, too.  I am grateful for the plan of salvation and to know that we'll again be with those we love who have already died.  What joy!
