Colonial Days

Fifth grade has been a lot of fun for Brandt.  They have been learning about Colonial times over several weeks.  They have been earning Colonial cash for good behavior and in social studies.  They have been working towards a day of Colonial activity, and today was the day.  They could come in costume and then were able to participate in various party stuff including learning how to do square dancing, cat's cradle, quilting, they played games, went to school, did soap carving, and then had their picture taken in the stock.  I went to help and taught the kids how to do cat's cradle.  Brandt reports that it was a good time.  He liked it.  From my perspective, it did seem like a good time.  Hooray for fifth grade!  And hooray! for Rachel LaComb who took all the pictures.

This is cat's cradle, the string game.
It's tricky!

Dancing!
