Swimming Lessons

For the past two weeks, Brandt and Blythe have had swimming lessons.  Silly to start lessons at the end of the summer, but I thought we needed something.  The indoor pool also has lessons, and I think we will continue in the fall so as to build on what we have started.

Blythe began the first week hesitantly.  She acted like she had never been in water, sitting on the side, refusing to get in.  The second day I practically threw her in the pool, telling her she had to get wet.  Her cute teacher, Miss Hillary, was very patient and was able to coax her into the water.  She worked so well with Blythe that Blythe was willing to work on things at Grandma Sue's pool.

Brandt is a cautious boy.  He did participate in everything his teacher, Matt, asked him to do, but not necessarily in the way Matt hoped.  Brandt would bob, but not put his face in the water.  He would glide, but without his face in the water.  He would go after a ring thrown in the water, but pick it up with his feet, not his hands.

Getting ready to glide.

Brandt is giggling because he has been splashing Matt with his feet as he was kicking.

This is Hilary with Blythe and a fellow student.
She was brave enough to go down the slide.
Brandt was not.

This is Brandt swimming.
I am happy to see him working on his own.

Blythe and Isabel.

Matt is winking.  I'm not sure if he is flirting with me or if he has water in his eye.
